Springfield,MO– Following his 2015 State of the State address, Gov. Jay Nixon visited Springfield today to highlight the recent monthly jobs report showing that Missouri added more jobs in 2014 than any year since 1997 and to announce new jobs and investments by local manufacturer, Allen Global Companies.
Missouri employers created more jobs in 2014 than in any year since 1997 and as we can see here in Springfield today, were just getting started, said Gov. Nixon. Allen Global Companies decision to reinvest in Missouri further positions the Show-Me State as a top destination for clean energy companies and advanced manufacturers worldwide. By working across the aisle to keep our fiscal discipline and make smart, strategic investments in education and infrastructure, we will continue to move Missouri's economy forward.
The monthly jobs report released by the Missouri Department of Economic Development on Wednesday showed Missouri's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.4 percent, the lowest since April 2008. Missouri employers created 44,700 jobs in 2014, the highest annual job growth total in 17 years. Joined by Springfield Mayor Robert Stephens and Springfield Chamber of Commerce President Matt Morrow, Gov. Nixon and company leadership celebrated the grand opening of Allen Global Companies newest division, Allen Filtration LLC. Allen Global Companies is an international leader in the manufacturing of green fluid management and recycling systems and products.
The company's expansion will create 50 new, high-paying jobs over the next five years and includes a $1 million capital investment. Allen Global Companies, headquartered in Springfield, has been a global leader in green waste stream management for more than 65 years. The company has offices on six continents and equipment in more than 66 countries around the world. Allen Filtration was formed in May 2014 as an independent division under the Allen Global Companies brand. Allen Filtration specializes in manufacturing custom equipment solutions in the areas of fluid filtration, rotating equipment, and full-scale recycling plants.
With the creation of Allen Filtration and the addition of new employees, the company has expanded into a new, 15,000 square-foot manufacturing facility. We couldn't be happier to launch our newest division, Allen Filtration, right here in Missouri, said Jerry Nichols, president and owner of Allen Global Companies.
Springfield provides our company with a large talent pool, low-cost climate and easy access to large global markets it makes sense to grow here where there's a statewide commitment to growing the clean energy sector and where we've already found the tools for success. Allen Global Companies continues to develop innovative solutions that advance many of Missouri's key industries, creating high-paying, next-generation jobs in advanced manufacturing and energy solutions.
Since advanced manufacturing and energy solutions were identified by his Strategic Initiative for Economic Growth as a top target for next generation job creation, Gov. Nixon has made attracting investments in these fields a priority of his administration. The state has been a recent recipient of major expansions by companies that advance these industries and create high-paying, next-generation jobs, including Mid Continent Nail, Boeing, Burns & McDonnell, BioStar Systems, and Sungevity.
To assist Allen Filtration with its expansion in Springfield, the Department of Economic Development has offered a strategic economic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation and investment criteria.
